There are many vesicles around the joints called bursa and these vesicles allow the tissues to slide smoothly during the movements of the joints. “Bursitis” is the swelling and pain of these vesicles.
Bursitis is one of the most common shoulder problems. It occurs due to strain and prolonged stay in an inverted position of the shoulder or after trauma.
Bursitis often accompanies impingement syndrome. Patients have increased shoulder pain with movement. Bursitis is usually coming around with resting and medication treatment. In some cases, cortisone injection to the shoulder and rarely removal of the bursa with a surgery may be required.
